All the jewellery from ‘Me Old China’
is made from second-hand and
vintage china plates!

As a surface pattern designer for tableware I have a fascination for vintage china and I love scouring second-hand shops, salvage yards and antique shops for all-sorts of tableware and ‘kitchenalia’ that takes my fancy.

Some of these items go into my home for re-use whilst others are recycled to make jewellery.

The necklaces showcase the beauty of the old plates and patterns as well as the opportunity to give a mundane second-hand discarded plate a new lease of life by recycling it into beautiful and individual pieces of jewellery.

The jewellery items are all individual with the shapes and patterns dictated by the plate itself. The individuality is further enhanced by the mix and match approach to piecing the items together - resulting in no two items being the same.

Some pieces feature the back-stamp of the plate with sadly many of the original manufacturers now closed down.

The range is continually being expanded with every trip to the second-hand shop and ‘new’ plates found!
